owen’s captain america birthday party.

as with years past, i put my camera away during the party to be able to play hostess and enjoy owen’s birthday party fully. i have a couple that i snapped before the guests arrived, and a group picture of the kiddos in their masks, but overall did a very poor job of photographing details. fortunately, my lack of photos doesn’t seem to have an effect on the party’s outcome. fun was had by all. owen had an amazing day, and that mattered most.

beverages: “best lemonade ever” & coronas
grub: smoked BBQ ribs, pulled pork, hotdogs (all grilling courtesy of my husband)
mac n’ cheese, fruit salad, & corn on the cob
dessert: chocolate layer cake & homemade mint chocolate chip ice cream

we sure do love our 3 year old. thanks to everyone who celebrated with us!

invitations: designed by me, sold on etsy.
comic book bunting: purchased cheap captain america comic books from ebay, then cut and assembled. (inspired by this pin on pinterest.)
super hero masks: purchased from etsy through FatCatParties as a party favor for the kids.
cake: a chocolate cake recipe found here, but i substituted white frosting for the chocolate for appearance. i made two separate cakes inspired by this pin & this pin on pinterest.
straws (not pictured): another etsy purchase with a red & blue stars to coordinate with captain america’s patriotic in nature theme.

superhero training never ends.

in case you were wondering, this is what superheroes do at night before they go to sleep. (or DO they sleep?) it’s a tough job to protect the world. and accordingly, training never ends.

my “super” cute niece.

we celebrated owen’s 3rd birthday today with a captain america themed party. my littlest niece may have been the cutest of them all sporting her super hero mask. super ivy!
